Chapter 18 - FasterStone shrapnel cascaded through the air as the pillar Avalin leapt from exploded from the demons blow. Its enormous paw shattered the thick, white stone slabs as if they were nothing but air. Avalin spun through the air and landed with his back turn towards the giant two-legged beast. The blond warrior spun around instantly, bringing his sword with him in a wide circular arc. The blade dug into the fur-clad demons left leg, causing black blood to gush out from a wide wound. White clouds drifted slowly on the clear blue sky. Avalin watched them, lying in the back of a large hay cart. The clouds didnt seem to be in any hurry, didnt seem to have anything that waited for them. Avalin tried to calm down, tried to feel the same way as the white giants in the sky, but his mind couldnt push away the thought of what awaited him in the near future.

Varadors blade dug deep into the beasts flesh as he dashed past it. His feet failed him as the cut had gone full circle and he fell to his knees on the dry road. Instantly he turned his head and glanced at the large, scale-skinned beast that lay on the ground behind him. After staring at the figure for what seemed like a minute he let go of the breath he had been holding and let the tension flow out of his body. But she could see past the fire and there was an exit there. She pushed herself forward, aiming to breathe clear air again. With scorched clothes she stumbled out though the door and took a deep breath. As her mind cleared, and she looked around, a part of her wished that she would never have stepped outside.
